Welcome to Wigton Cricket Club's Website

Wigton CC currently have three adult teams, who play on either a Saturday or Sunday.The 1st X1 are in The North Lancashire & Cumbria League while the 2nd & 3rd X1's play in The Eden Valley Leagues - so you are pretty much guaranteed to see cricket at Wigton of a weekend!

We also have U11,U13 & U15 junior teams playing league cricket (see weblink to Cumbria Junior Cricket League), So Mondays, Friday's & Sunday Mornings are busy!

Finally we have 4 midweek league sides currently active - So that's Tuesdays, Wednesday & Thursday nights sorted!
Add practices in on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays and it's pretty hard toavoid Cricket from April till September!

Now:If you are, even remotely, involved or interested in the Club then please enrol for on-line membership: Then you can enjoy all the member only areas and functions on the site.

We can keep you posted (via the email functions on the site) on all club activities & meetings - therefore please keep your details up to date!

Junior Cricket @ Wigton CC

Junior coaching nights are detailed in the site.
Coaching night fees are £2 per peron.
Junior subscriptions are £10 per person.

When playing for Wigton CC:
. Please wear cricket whites including club top if you have them. A tracksuit or joggers and t-shirt will suffice if you don't
. Bring a warm top or cricket whites jumper
. Bring a drink and an energy snack
. Parents, friends and family are welcome to come and support the team
The club will provide all necessary cricket equipment but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
. Boys MUST wear pants NOT boxer shorts.

When netting @ Wigton CC:
. ALL juniors MUST wear a helmet when batting even if you are at an unsupervised session.
. Bring a warm top or cricket whites jumper
. Bring a drink and an energy snack

Juniors practise - Summer 2008

Wigton Cricket Club has a strong philosophy of providing coaching as a year round activity, This coming summers sessions will be:

UNDER 11 KWIK-CRICKET: every Wednesday from 6.30 for Under 11's who are wanting to get involved in cricket and get a feel for the game. Starting 23rd April till 20th August at the Club nets.

UNDER 11: every Wednesday from 6.30 for Under 11's who are at the stage of progressing to "hard ball" cricket and are playing in the junior leagues.Starting 23rd April till 20th August at the Club nets.

UNDER 13: every Wednesday from 6.30 starting 23rd April till 20nd August at the Club nets.

UNDER 15: every Tuesday from 6.30 starting 22nd April till 19st August at the Club nets.

Juniors: Winter Coaching 2007 / 2008

Wigton Cricket Club has a strong philosophy of providing coaching as a year round activity. We run winter coaching sessions in conjunction with the Cumbria Cricket Board.

The schedule for this winter is -

Years 5&6 (U11)
"Brilliant Basics" 8 week pre xmas course
"playing the Game" 8 week post xmas course

Years 7&8 (U13)
"Solid Skills" 8 week pre xmas course
"Match Craft" 8 week post xmas course

Years 9&10 (U15)
"Get ahead" 8 week course pre & post xmas
We MAY extend this course to 10 week one to take in part of March

Senior coaching & practise

OUTDOOR SENIOR PRACTICE: IS AT 6.30PM EVERY MONDAY (2008 commences 14th April) at the Club nets.

The nets are mixed ability & players who wish to come back in to the game are very welcome. If you want to get back into cricket but are rusty coaching is available.

SENIOR INDOOR NETS: Winter 2008 schedule:
2/3* 9/3 16/3 30/3* 13/4 at 3.30 pm
* indicates ECB level 3 coach in attendance

23/3 & 6/4 at 6 pm
